Early Easter Parade Fashion Trend

After all of the Spring 2012 fashion shows, new trends are everywhere. With the end of winter just around the corner, retailers are beginning to bring out the brights and the patterns. This season is going to be all about pastels.

Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2012 campaign is one full of sugary sweetness. In one word, it’s just “pretty.” With oodles of girly additions, the collection was described by Marc Jacobs for Women’s Wear Daily: “It is all very soft and very sweet, yet at the same time, very bold and very graphic.”

It’s all very reminiscent of the phrase, “Like a kid in a candy store,” or should I say, “Designers in a fabric store?” There is lace, frill, tulle, and an assortment of embellishments for the dainty young girl in all of us. The childish feminism of the campaign includes ice cream parlors, lollipops, and even cotton candy.

With spring in the air (almost) it’s getting to be time for light and airy. I’m ready to kick the earth tones out of my closet and bring in the box of sidewalk chalk.

Now the question of the day: Wear all pastels together? Or mix and match with bolder shades or dark neutrals? I’m a little weary of being washed out, so personally I’d say mix them with some other pieces. Even including hints of pastel in your accessories would do the trick. Maybe pop some pink into your bag? Or try sea foam green on your shoes, headbands, or jewelry.

The bottom line is that color is in. Embrace it. And then go get an ice cream sundae to celebrate. It’s worth it, I promise.
